Salmon Baked With Herbs & Caramelized Lemons & Pink Grapefruit Hollandaise & Romaine, Red Onion & Asparagus Salad.

Gordon Ramsay's family fare cook book challenge day 59

*Salmon Baked With Herbs & Caramelized Lemons & Pink Grapefruit Hollandaise & Romaine, Red Onion & Asparagus Salad.

This is the last formal meal in this book, I wish I could say I had a great meal, but it really did not turn out good. To be specific, the pink grapefruit hollandaise.

I am not sure if the pink grapefruit here is different then where Gordon is from, the hollandaise is sooo bitter and strong. Husband said it tasted like rubber. I threw the whole bowl of it out right after we finished meal, like it was going to chase me down and give me that bad taste again.

The salad was pretty flat. It looks interesting with the romaine leaves and asparagus. However it does not taste interesting as close as you might think it should. It was rather imaginable, eh, classic salad dressing with green leaves.

We enjoyed the Salmon though, It was very flavorful. The Lemon made it tender and gave it a bit sourness that goes very well with the rich taste of the fish. The fish is steamed with the evaporation from the herbs that you can imagine how wonderful the fish was with all the flavors from the herbs.

Like everything else, you always wish the last one is a good one to wrap up the entire experience. The last night of the year has to be the romantic and happy night, the last words before departure is always full of great and heartfelt wishes, and the princess and prince has to be happily ever after when the animation draws the circle that will close up the screen. We all try, and sometimes they just do not turn out the way we wanted. So did this meal. Despite how much I struggle in my mind to think this is not as bad as you think, let's just pretend it is actually good, I am just being too picky. In my heart I already know this is one of the last thing that did not end up so perfect. So should I be sad and frustrated because of this? Thinking back, the great flavors, the fun of making the meals I never made before, the joy I had sharing food with my husband. It was absolutely a thrill joy ride and I enjoyed all part of the experience, even maybe include this last full course meal that was not so good. I think I had a perfect and unique journey that belongs to me, the last one is not something could ruin it.
